Blog

As you may have noticed, our goal of adding a new post every Friday has quickly fallen apart. We’re not giving up though! We’ll try again next Friday. Anyway, back to the real reason you’re here.

We’re still in Halloween prep mode around here and I decided to make Trick or Treat bags for my granddaughters this year. When my girls were young I sewed a bunch of their costumes. I like to think we all loved it!

One year I made ‘bridal dresses’ for both of my girls. The puffiness of those sleeves would have given Princess Di a run for her money. Another year, Kira was Little Bo Peep and Kayla was her sheep. Although Kayla likes to give me a hard time about it now, she loved that costume! As I recall, she tried wearing it as a snowsuit because she loved it so much.Costumes from 1991 and 1993

I figure I have relinquished my costume making days to my daughter but I still wanted to make something special for my granddaughters. So, this year I decided to make them trick or treat bags. In typical Sheila fashion, I grabbed some fabric and just got creative. Then, I decided to be super nice and turn it into a free pattern so you can make one (or two, or ten) too!

The free pattern doesn’t include any appliques but if you want to add the ones that I did you can pick up our Halloween Favorites template pack while you’re in our shop! I used cuddle fabrics for my appliques, but you can use cottons, fleece, or even felt to add your appliques.

Thanks for stopping by and as always,
Happy Sewing!
